about.
Hi and welcome to my embroidery and project site! My name is Victoria Dye but am also known as Mistress Ester Pickering, a persona I use as a reenactor. I primarily participate in two groups, the SCA, Society for Creative Anachronism, which is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe and Gardiners Company, a living history group of 16th century Elizabethan England.
I have enjoyed embroidery and various handmade projects my entire life. My primary focus for the past several years has been Elizabethan Embroidery techniques. This was a heyday for beautiful embroidery featuring nature subjects in free form designs. I was inspired by the Plimoth Jacket Project at Winterthur Museum. I have studied on my own and through courses at Thistle Threads. Now I want to share my projects and techniques for creating them. This site showcases some of those projects along with notes from classes I have taught. You are welcome to enjoy this information for personal use only. Do not share any information without my approval first. Thanks, and Enjoy!
